Austin Newman, an independent filmmaker and longtime supporter of Tamp Film Network, has agreed to direct a short film in association with TFN.
Austin Last directed his feature MMXXII 2017, and since he has been busy with smaller projects thru 2018. He appeared in episode #17 of Tampa Film Podcast in May, and has recently gotten married over the summer. On Oct 1st he finished his script "The Butterfly" and reached out to Termaine Jenkins (producer of 'Good Friends'), who liked the script and agreed to help produce the film.
The Butterfly is a science fiction drama about a successful young woman named Lacey who agrees to meet her estranged alcoholic father who disappeared years ago, but is now claiming he traveled through time to save her from an accident. The premise is something Austin had been interested in for some time and is now adamant to see completed.
Unlike TFN's first production "Good Friends" where in collaboration with the group "The Film Punks" TFN was still forming and needed to rely on TFP's crew, this time TFN is providing a lot of Logistical support as well as Crew and other resources. In the coming weeks Termaine Jenkins has indicated the production will move quickly and will likely be shot by mid November and edited by Christmas. TFN will share production credit with Austin's brand Natural Wonders Productions.
